Lionel Borkan, BS ’46, is retired from the pharmaceutical industry. He resides in New Vernon, N.J.
James Drumwright Jr., BFA ’49, scuba dives with his wife, Amy. He is retired and reports he would like to return to Ohio University for a visit someday. They live in Richardson, Texas.
Marcia Baratz Epstein, BSJ ’49, retired from IBM. She was widowed in 1976. She has three children, three grandchildren and identical twin great-granddaughters, Neli and Neima. She resides in Baltimore.
William Butler, BSED ’50, MA ’51, and Virginia Ault Butler, AB ’51, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 18. Bill served as the first dean of students at Ohio University from 1962-65. They

John Kircher, BS ’50, MS ’51, and Patricia Irwin Kircher, AB ’51, have been married 60 years and celebrated their anniversary Sept. 2.
David Weber, BSED ’52, ran a half marathon in the Gobi desert as the oldest competitor last October. He and his wife, Ruth Hovorka Weber, BSED ’52, live in Fruitland Park, Fla.
Robert Bigley, AB ’54, reports he is busy with his daily diary and memoirs. He welcomes visits from Ohio University friends, with advance notice. He and his wife, Lois, live in Cincinnati.
Sol Gordon, BSED ’54, and his wife, Winnie Saxon Gordon, BSED ’54, celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in September. They met at the OU Hillel house in 1950. Two of their five children also graduated from Ohio: Gary Gordon, BSED ’77, and Philip Gordon, AB ’84. Sol and Winnie reside in Fairfax, Va.
Loren Troescher, BSCOM ’55, is a successful author, with his work published on 60 websites under his professional name, Karl Loren. At Ohio, he participated in the fraternity Alpha Kappa Lambda (originally Beta Sigma), chess club and the wrestling team. At 80, he is active in kung fu. He and his wife, Bonnie Lee Roberts, reside in Canyon Country, Calif.
Sarah (Sally) Wing, MA ’56, retired as a psychologist after working for half a century in schools, prisons and hospitals. She lives in Bel Air, Md.
Linda King Hall, BFA ’57, is a partner in The Artists’ Gallery in Chesterton, Md. Her recent exhibition at the gallery was titled “The Hem of Heaven.” She is a member of several watercolor societies, including the Baltimore, Pennsylvania and Northeast watercolor societies. Her love of watercolor was learned at Ohio
University in 1954, thanks to her professor, Miss Work.
William Loftus, AB ’58, MA ’72, was elected president of the Dayton District Council of St. Vincent de Paul, making him responsible for its multimillion-dollar operation. He is an adjunct professor of communications at the University of Dayton and National College.
W. Earl Appleby, BA ’59, rejoined the pastoral ministry of a small church in Spokane, Wash. He retired from the ministry in 2001 after 41 years of service, and then received a master’s degree in agency counseling at Whitworth University and served as a hospice chaplain.
