A story that had to be told
Prize-winning series documents
a hospital's deadly errors
Alumnus Steve Hymon, BSC '88, and four other members of a Los Angeles Times reporting team were awarded Ohio University's Ursula and Gilbert Farfel Prize for Excellence in Investigative Reporting this year for their work on "The Troubles with King/Drew."
The five-part series documented chronic mismanagement and deadly errors at the Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, which serves mostly impoverished neighborhoods in south Los Angeles.
