Our Ohio University love affair began on Court Street in Athens and has led us to a joint optometry practice on Court Street in Medina, Ohio. 

In 1993, Tim Milburn and Annamarie Wernicke were both new members on the Student Alumni Board (SAB). 

As new SAB members, we made many lifelong friendships, but most importantly we met each other. We were on parallel tracks, as pre-optometry students, but those tracks took a few years to intersect.

We were both majoring in the Biological Sciences, but Tim was a year ahead of Anna and we never shared any classes together.

Sparks flew just days before Tim was about to graduate in June of 1996. The timing could not have been more perfect. Tim had already agreed to stay in Athens after graduation to spend the summer working for an optometrist, and Anna was already enrolled in summer school.

Our first date was at the old Wings N' Rings on Court Street. All of our friends departed for the summer, leaving us to a perfect summer romance. The only two people left in town that we knew were each other. If you have never spent a quiet summer in Athens, we highly recommend it!

As the summer wound down, Tim prepared to start optometry school at Ohio State. We both dreaded the end of the summer, but as things turned out it was only the beginning.

Tim's new apartment on the east side of Columbus, conviently located on Rt. 33, was only a 65-minute drive from Athens, and we were never apart for more then eight days during Anna's senior year at Ohio University.

In fact, Tim spent so many weekends in Athens, during his first year at Ohio State, that he felt more like a fifth-year senior at Ohio University.

Shortly after her graduation from Ohio University in June of 1997, Anna was also accepted at The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Tim received his doctorate from Ohio State in 2000, and Anna graduated with her doctorate from Ohio State in 2001.

While Anna was still finishing her doctorate degree, Tim began practicing optometry at several locations around central Ohio.  That's when a practice became available in Medina that the couple felt was simply perfect. Medina is a growing community, and the practice had a great location. In fact, the practice was located … you guessed it, right on North Court Street in Medina.  

Today, Tim and Anna Milburn have two little girls. Elise is four, and Corinne is 18 months. Drs. Milburn Inc. has been established since December of 2000 and now has two locations, one in Medina and one in Wooster.

Our degrees from Ohio University prepared us well for the challenges we have faced in our careers. To this day, we still keep in touch with our friends from the Student Alumni Board.

As Bobcats, Buckeyes, practicing optometrists, and most importantly, husband and wife, from Court Street to Court Street we have always seen eye to eye.
