Richard Brown and Shao are members of the OU Foundation Board, while Cruse Moss is a former member. All are strong supporters of the university. Moss, 1994 Alumnus of the Year, endowed the Cruse W. Moss Professorship in Engineering Education. Shao created a
n endowment for internship training of Asian librarians at Alden Library. Brown was commencement speaker in 1996.
