Ohio University is pulling in more outside dollars for research and educational activities than ever before. The university received $34.4 million from external funding sources in 1996-97, up from $30.7 million the year before. Carol Blum, interi m vice president for research and graduate studies, said the increase is a reflection of a more aggressive pursuit of outside funding by faculty and staff.
Faculty and staff submitted 652 requests for funding from outside agencies and corporations in 1996-97, and 465 proposals resulted in awards. The year before, 536 proposals for external funding were submitted.
