Leona Hughes, BSED '30, of Sarasota, Fla., received an honorary doctor of humane letters degree at Ohio University's 2001 undergraduate commencement. Hughes has supported a variety of University initiatives through the years, including endowing a chair in economics, four Hughes/Cutler Scholarships and three tuition scholarships. She served 15 years on the Alumni Association Board of Directors and nine years as a trustee of The Ohio University Foundation.

Dorothy Lawrey Vorhees, AB '37, a former public school art teacher and supervisor, offers watercolor painting classes. The Albuquerque, N.M., resident is a signature member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society and the Federation of Watercolor Societies and has won awards in local and regional exhibitions.
