These books are spellbinding
Professor of Art Don Adleta's letterpress and bookmaking course encourages students' creativity -- and they have no problem delivering.
In fact, their innovative works have found a home in Alden Library's 59,000-volume rare books collection alongside early printed books, fine printing, private press books and first or important editions.
Here's a sampling of the students' creations:

"Toolbox" is a story in a tray created by Benjie Heu in 1998.

Jennifer Hinger incorporated a bra in the binding of "Sex" in 2003.

Also in 2003, Elizabeth Davis and Shannon Williams collaborated on "Garden Flowers," which contains intricate illustrations and actual seed packets.

Tamara Brown used an inner tube to create "What You Tear Will Come to You" in 2001.

"Jacob’s Ladder," reminiscent of the ancient folk toy by the same name, was created by Liz Swanson and featured silver type on wooden squares.
