ATHENS, Ohio -- The Honors Tutorial College has named Jan Hodson to the half-time position of program coordinator. She began her duties July 1.
As program coordinator, Hodson is responsible for coordinating projects and programs for the Honors Tutorial College, including Honors Convocation, Honors Academy and the undergraduate research inventory.
Previously Hodson worked for five years as coordinating instructor for the Hocking College Nanny Academy. From 1979 to 1989, she was associate director of development and director of planned giving for Ohio University's Office of Development. She also worked as a part-time instructor for the School of Human and Consumer Sciences in 1993 and as a graduate associate in the university's Child Development Center.
"Jan's previous work in higher education, direct work with students, fundraising and other administrative work make her uniquely qualified for this position," Honors Tutorial College Assistant Dean Ann Brown said. "She brings a wealth of experience and insight to the college."
Hodson received her bachelor's degree in home economics in 1977 and her master's degree in child development and family studies in 1996, both from Ohio University. She earned a legal assistant certificate from Capital University Law School in 1977.
"This is something entirely different from anything I've ever done," Hodson said. "This is a very interesting and challenging position."
