ATHENS, Ohio Adrie Nab, vice president for University Communications and Marketing, has announced his retirement from Ohio University, effective January 1, 2000.
During the upcoming transition, Nab will work closely with Associate Vice President Hub Burton, who will assume an interim role until a search for Nab's replacement can be completed.
President Robert Glidden praised Nab for carrying out assignments that have resulted in higher national recognition for the institution, including several citations in The Chronicle of Higher Education, which recently reported on the university's plan to put computers in residence halls.
"Adrie helped assemble a team of advisers who share accomplishments of faculty and students with an ever-widening audience," Glidden said. The President noted the new design of the University's web site, www.ohiou.edu, as an important contribution achieved, in part, because of Nab's efforts to promote the university's technology initiatives.
"Adrie's division has raised out profile across the nation and world," Glidden said.
Nab was hired as vice president for University Relations in 1992. He has been responsible for the departments of News Services and Periodicals, University Publications and Graphic Communications, Media Productions, Printing Resources, the Visitor's Center and the university's web page. Between 1992 and 1998, before the streamlining of his division, his responsibilities also included the Alumni Relations Office.
Initiatives started under Nab's tenure include:
Nab will be relocating with his family to Santa Barbara, California.
