ATHENS, Ohio -- High school juniors and seniors across Ohio will participate in the first round of Ohio University's 52nd American History Contest Oct. 5-23.

The winner receives a four-year, full-tuition Ohio University scholarship and $100. Fourteen other Ohio University scholarships are awarded to top student scorers in the contest.

The multiple-choice test will be completed by students at their local schools with first-round winners to be announced in November.

Those eligible for the final round of competition on the Athens campus Dec. 3 include the highest scorer in each of Ohio's 88 counties and all county scorers in the 99th percentile, or the second and third highest scorer in the 95th percentile or above in each county.

Outstanding High School awards of $150 and $100 will go to the two schools with the largest number of winners in the contest's two rounds. A total of six awards will be made based on the size of the school.

Ohio University's College of Arts and Sciences, History Department and Admissions Office sponsor the contest.
