ATHENS, Ohio -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson, president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, will hold a news conference at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the 1804 Room of Ohio University's Baker Center. Jackson will speak on his "Leave no American Behind" campaign.
Jackson will also give a public address on the same topic at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the West Portico of Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium on the Athens campus.
Jackson will tour American Electric Power coal mines in Meigs County and meet with coal miners Thursday, Sept. 24. News media representatives interested in accompanying the Thursday tour should contact George Korn at (740) 797-4027.
The Ohio University visit precedes a rally at Hocking College, noon to 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept 27. John Sweeney, president of the AFL-CIO, and Cecil Roberts, president of the United Mine Workers, are expected to attend the rally.
