ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio University Airport will hold a "Fly In" beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, offering prizes and plane rides.
The free, public event will take place at the airport at 747 Columbia Road in Albany.
Participants can register for a free drawing for rides in a 1997 Cessna 172, one of several airplanes purchased recently by the airport for Ohio University use and instruction in the Department of Aviation. Licensed pilots may register for a free drawing for a 30-minute flight in a World War II-era DC-3.
Other raffle items will include a Cessna jacket and university apparel. Airport pilots also will offer 20-minute rides in a Cessna 172 for $13 per person. Concessions will be provided by Alpha Eta Rho, Ohio University's aviation fraternity.
At 1 p.m., a representative from the Federal Aviation Administration will conduct "Single Pilot CRM," a seminar on cockpit technology and safety offered for licensed pilots.
More information on the "Fly In" is available by calling the airport at 614-597-2600.
