"Word as Image," a graphic design exhibition, will be on display through Oct. 15 at the Ohio University Art Gallery.
"The Unfound Door," a multimedia piece incorporating sculpture, sound, light and video, and "Will Barnet: An American Master Print Retrospective" will be on display through Oct. 31 at the Kennedy Museum.
The MFA exhibitions of James Robinson and Aimee Lannis will be on display Oct. 19-23 at the Ohio University Art Gallery.
The BFA Photography Exhibition will be on display Oct. 19-30 at Trisolini Gallery.
"Leaves," a display of recently donated leaves and manuscripts from as early as the 8th century will be on display through mid-November on the fifth-floor lobby at Alden Library. Library hours are 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday; noon to 10 p.m. Sunday.
Note: All music events are free of charge.
Harold Robison will perform on bassoon at 8 p.m. Oct. 19 at First Presbyterian Church.
The Trumpet and Percussion Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. Oct. 21 in the Music Building Recital Hall.
PERFORMING ARTS
"Beethoven -- Symphony No. 9" will be presented by the Ohio University Symphonic Orchestra and Choirs at 8 p.m. Oct. 16 in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. Ticket prices begin at $4.25 and can be reserved by calling 740-593-1780.
The School of Theater will present "The Fantasticks" at 8 p.m. Oct. 13-16, 20-23, 27-30 and 2 p.m. Oct. 30 at Forum Theater in the RTV Building. Tickets are $6-$10 and can be reserved at the Kantner Hall Box Office at 740-593-4800.
The Movement Dance Organization Fall Concert will be held at 8 p.m. Oct. 15-17 in Putnam Studio Theater, Putnam Hall. Tickets are $3 and can be purchased by calling 740-593-1826.
LECTURES
Peter Rose, sociologist and documentary specialist, will speak on "Speaking Prose: Reflection on a Life in American Studies" at 4 p.m. Oct. 18 in Bentley Hall Room 136. The lecture is free and open to the public and is sponsored by Ohio University's American Studies Steering Committee.
The following speakers are part of the Fall Speakers Program of the Department of Environmental and Plant Biology. The lectures will take place in 104 Porter Hall at 4 p.m. A reception for speakers will take place in 417 Porter Hall at 3:30 p.m. Admission is free.
Alan Graham of Kent State University will present his lecture, "Clearing the Underbrush -- A Better Understanding of Tropical American Vegetational and Environmental History," Oct. 15.
Jora Young of The Nature Conservancy will speak on conservation careers Oct. 22.

Ohio University Homecoming Weekend 1999 will be Oct 22-24. The Ohio University Bobcats will take on Bowling Green in the Homecoming Football Game at 1 p.m. Oct. 23 at Peden Stadium.
