ATHENS, Ohio -- Kim Wortman, manager of Ohio University Mail Services, has been elected to the Board of Directors for the National Association of College and University Mail Services.

The association represents more than 450 college and university mail professionals, advocating the mailing interests of all colleges and universities before Congress and the Postal Rate Commission and serving as a liason with the United States Postal Service. It also promotes the development and use of ethical mail mangagement techniques and offers training and educational opportunities to mail service professionals.

Wortman has been the manager of Ohio University Mail Services for nine years and was honored with an Outstanding Administrator Award from Ohio University for the 1997-98 academic year. He is working with the education committee of the National Association of College and University Mail Services to develop a certified mailing professional certification program that will include a written test and specify criteria for positions in university mail services.

Wortman joins six other members on the board of directors that represent the University of Iowa, Northern Arizona University, Washington State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Vanderbilt University and the University of California-Berkeley.
