ATHENS, Ohio -- Author, editor, lecturer and ecological activist Stephanie Mills will present "Sanity, Decency, Nature and Place: The Virtues of Bioregionalism " at Ohio University's Irvine Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.
Mills' most recent novel, "In Search of the Wild," is the second of two readings assigned to First Year Enrichment students, who will hear Mills lecture on Oct. 26 in Clippinger Hall. Mills also will speak to freshman English classes, a geography class and a political science class about overpopulation and other environmental concerns.
Raised in Phoenix, Mills was educated and employed in the San Francisco Bay area from the mid-1960s to the mid-'80s. A commencement address she presented at Mills College in 1969 focused national attention on ecology. She now lives in Michigan and has writte- n articles for a variety of publications, including Wild Earth and Glamour. In 1996, Mills was named an Utne Reader>Visionary.
