ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University's Gordy Hall will be the center of attention at two events this week: an open house to show off the building's two-year, $10.6 million renovation and a reunion for alumni of the Department of Modern Languages and former participants in the Education Abroad program.
The open house for university faculty, staff and students as well as community members is from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday. The event will include remarks by College of Arts and Sciences Dean Leslie Flemming and chairs of departments located in Gordy Hall, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an opportunity for self-guided tours.
On Saturday, the building will be the focal point of a reunion for Department of Modern Language and Education Abroad alumni. The event marks the 30th anniversary of Ohio University's involvement in study abroad.
More than 70 alumni, spouses and friends -- including university liaisons in Austria, France and Mexico -- are expected for the reunion. Events will include an open house, tours of Gordy Hall, a reception, a banquet and dance.
