ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University Professor of Management Systems Ted Compton has been appointed associate dean of the College of Business.
As the chief operating officer of the college, Compton will be responsible for the college's day-to-day operations. Compton previously served as an administrator and faculty member in the college's School of Accountancy.
"Ted's many years of dedicated service to the College of Business, his proven leadership qualities, and his impartial and unbiased approach to dealing with challenges make him an ideal choice for associate dean," said Glenn Corlett, dean of the college.
Compton came to Ohio University in 1977 after teaching for six years at the University of Cincinnati. His prior experience in industry includes positions with Cincinnati Milicron, Sperry Rand Corp. and W.G. Seinshiemer and Associates, a Cincinnati-based management consulting firm.
Compton completed a Ph.D. in accounting at the University of Cincinnati, a bachelor's degree in industrial administration at the University of Kentucky and a master's degree in business administration at Xavier University. He is a certified management accountant (CMA) and a certified systems professional (CSP).
Associate Professor of Managment Systems Frank Barone served as associate dean from 1990 to 1998 and will return to teaching at the college.
