ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University's student-run public relations firm, Impressions, won the Frederick H. Teahan Award for outstanding firm at the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) national conference recently in Nashville, Tenn.

Impressions is a division of the university's PRSSA chapter, operating as a public relations firm and providing services for local clients. The firm currently has nine clients, including The Post, ACTV-7, the Athens County chapter of the American Red Cross, Perk's, Zachary's, World's Best Bagels, Scalia Lab, Habitat for Humanity and Impressions.

The firm provides professional public relations services at affordable rates while giving students the opportunity to gain practical PR experience, according to Pamela Greenfield, chief executive officer of Impressions.

"We plan special events, write news releases and create brochures and newsletters," Greenfield said. "It's the cheapest public relations firm in the world."

Impressions' students submitted a portfolio of work and a budget for the contest in which they competed with about 100 other student firms attending the conference. The portfolios were analyzed for professionalism, quality, diversity, creativity and presentation.
