ATHENS, Ohio -- Former Republican presidential candidate Steve Forbes will speak about his flat tax proposals and other issues at a public forum at Ohio University's College of Business at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 in room 104 of Copeland Hall.

The president and chief executive officer of Forbes Inc. and editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine, Forbes won presidential primaries in Arizona and Delaware before withdrawing from the 1996 Republican presidential primary campaign. He had advocated a flat income tax, in which all Americans would pay the same rate of tax, medical savings accounts and term limits.

Forbes has appeared on many national news programs, including the "Lehrer Newshour" and "Wall Street Week." Under presidents Reagan and Bush, Forbes served as chairman of the board of the Board for International Broadcasting, overseeing the operation of Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty.

Frank Cremeans, former Republican congressman from Ohio's 6th District, helped arrange Forbes' visit and will accompany Forbes.
