WESTFALL TO READ HER NEW MYSTERY

WESTFALL TO READ FROM HER NEW MYSTERY TUESDAY AT ALDEN LIBRARY

11/15/96

ATHENS, Ohio -- Athens resident Pat Westfall, an associate professor of journalism at Ohio University's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, will read from her new murder mystery Fowl Play at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 in the Friends of the Library Room (Room 319) of Alden Library on Ohio University's Athens campus.

The mystery is set in Southeastern Ohio and many of the characters are based on residents in the area. Poisoned Pen, a reviewer of mystery books, describes the book as "an absolutely fascinating book about Appalachian culture and history set in Southern Ohio where the folkways combine with the modern technology of computers and cellular phones. Great characters, highly recommended."

Westfall is the author of Painting Odyssey , a book of essays, and Real Farm, an autobiographical account of life on an Iowa farm.

Copies of Fowl Play will be available following the reading and question-and-answer period. Westfall will be available to sign copies of her book.
