ATHENS, Ohio -- Columbus attorney Charles Glander has been named assistant director of legal affairs at Ohio University, according to Director of Legal Affairs John Burns.
Glander, a specialist in tax law, has been hired to deal with the university's financial affairs, particularly tax matters, Burns said.
"I am very pleased Charles Glander took an interest and accepted the appointment in our office," Burns said. "After his extraordinary career and accomplishments as one of the leading tax attorneys in the state of Ohio, we are very fortunate to have his wealth of experience and expertise as part of the legal services we provide to Ohio University."
Glander retired in 1998 as a partner at the Columbus law firm of Bricker & Eckler where he had worked since 1982. Prior to that, he co-founded the firm of Glander, Brant, Ledman & Newman, in Columbus. He began his law career in Columbus in 1959 with Wright, Harlor, Morris, Arnold and Glander.
Glander is former president of the Central Ohio Transit Authority. He was a member of Upper Arlington City Council from 1966 to 1976, serving as mayor from 1972 to 1974.
Glander completed a bachelor's degree in political science at Ohio Wesleyan University in 1956 and a Juris Doctor degree at Ohio State University in 1959.
