VOICE OF OHIO BOBCATS RETIRING AFTER 31 YEARS ON RADIO

ATHENS, Ohio -- Dick Schorr, the voice of the Ohio University Bobcats, gives his last broadcast Saturday, Nov. 21, when the Bobcats play Kent State University in Kent. Schorr's broadcasts are carried live on the Ohio Sports Network, 13 radio stations across Ohio.

Schorr has been broadcasting Bobcat football for 31 years, 327 games, and basketball for 19 years and 547 games.

Some highlights from Schorr's broadcasting career include: *Schorr missed only one basketball game when a snow storm prevented him from doing the broadcast.

*Schorr missed only five football games. In 1970, he was a television commentator for Penn State football and missed four games, one against the Bobcats. He also missed a football game so he could attend his son's wedding.

*Schorr also was a commentator for University of Cincinnati, University of Pennsylvania and Princeton basketball games.

*Schorr owned WSWZ radio station in Lancaster for 9 years.

*Starting in 1961, Schorr was the first host of "Bowling for Dollars" on then WTVN-TV6, now WSYX-TV6, Columbus. He also hosted the show in several other cities, including Cincinnati, St. Louis, Philadelphia and Scranton, Pa.
