ATHENS, Ohio. -- Eric E. Hoskinson, a native of Corning in Perry County, has joined the Ohio University Police Department as an officer after five weeks of field training.

Hoskinson formerly served as a deputy sheriff with the Perry County Sheriff's Office from September 1995 to January 1997, and was a deputy sheriff in Orange County, Calif., for two years before that.

A 1995 graduate of the Muskingum Area Technical College Police Academy, Hoskinson was a member of the U. S. Marine Corps from 1989 to 1993, stationed at Camp Pendelton, Calif.
