ATHENS, Ohio -- Noted author Rachel Blau DuPlessis will read from her work at 8 p.m. Thursday (March 6) in Galbreath Chapel on Ohio University's Athens campus. The reading is sponsored by the Creative Writing Program of the Department of English, and is free and open to the public.
DuPlessis is know as a feminist critic and scholar, a poet and an essayist. She is the author of Writing Beyond the Ending: Narrative Strategies of Twentieth-Century Women Writers (1985), H.D.: The Career of that Struggle (1986), and The Pink Guitar: Writing as Feminist Practice (1990).
DuPlessis, a professor of English at Temple University in Philadelphia, also has published several books of poems, and her poetry has appeared in such magazines and journals as Grand Street, Iowa Review, and Chelsea.
She is a recipient of a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Grant, a Fund for Poetry Award, and a Gertrude Stein Award for innovative American poetry.
