ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University recently announced additions to the staff of the university Police Department: Officer Richard Comer, Officer Brian Kapple, and Communications Officer Jennifer Davies-Green.
Comer joined the department Sept. 14 after previously working as the university's heating plant stationary engineer. He is a native of Albany and has an associate's degree in police science from Hocking College.
Kapple joined the force Aug. 17 after working as a patrolman in Belpre for six years. A native of Marietta, Kapple completed an associate's degree in police science from Hocking College.
Davies-Green joined the department as one of four communications officers in August. She is a former 911 operator for Athens County. She also served as advisor for the Athens County Sheriff's Department Explorers and as special deputy for Athens County. Davies-Green attended the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and New Hampshire College in Salem, New Hampshire.
All new officers must pass the department's Field Officer Training Program, an orientation course that introduces new officers to OUPD's specialized campus law enforcement procedures, techniques and philosophies. The police department has an opening for another communications officer.
