CONTRACT EXTENDED FOR OHIO UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

6/27/97

ATHENS, Ohio -- The contract of Athletic Director Thomas Boeh ("BAY") has been extended by three years, to June 30, 2001, Ohio University President Robert Glidden announced Friday.

"I think Tom Boeh has done an extraordinary job of developing our athletic program," Glidden said following Friday's Board of Trustees meeting. "One of the major charges I gave him was to develop promotions so that we would increase attendance and therefore increase revenues, and that athletics could become more self-supporting. He has done that."

Boeh's salary for 1997-98 will be $98,275, up from $93,600 in the fiscal year ending June 30. Boeh was initially hired under a three-year contract in June 1995.

Glidden said that Boeh, who came to Ohio University from a position as associate director of athletics at Northwestern University two years ago, is providing the university with "a broader vision" because of his familiarity with programs at other major universities. "He is very well-connected and very well thought of among atheletic directors around the country," Glidden said.
