ATHENS, Ohio -- C. David Snyder, a newly elected member of the Ohio University Board of Trustees, has pledged $1.2 million to the College of Business at Ohio University.

Snyder's gift will support scholarships for graduates of Napoleon High School, Napoleon, Ohio, and College of Business programs, including the executive in residence positions and the student activities fund.

Snyder, a majority owner of Snyder Brewing Group, which owns Cleveland's Crooked River Brewery and Cincinnati's Hudepohl-Schoenling Brewery, is former chairman, president and CEO of REALOGIC, Inc., of Cleveland. Under his direction, the advanced technology consulting and systems integration firm opened offices in San Francisco, Washington, Atlanta, Ann Arbor, Mich., London and Rotterdam.

A 1974 College of Business graduate, Snyder received the Ohio University Alumni Association Medal of Merit in 1998 for achievement in business.

"The foundation for my success today was built, in large part, during my formative years as a student at Ohio University. It delights me to be able to provide the institution with resources that can significantly impact other students during their formative years," said Snyder, a trustee of The Ohio University Foundation since 1998 and a member of the College of Business Executive Advisory Board.

Snyder's gift is testimony to his long-standing support of the university, according to President Robert Glidden.

"During the several years I have known him, David has exhibited outstanding leadership for Ohio University and the College of Business. As a trustee of the Foundation Board, and now as a new university trustee, his dedication to this institution continues to serve as a fine example for all of our alumni and friends, especially the leaders of tomorrow," Glidden said.

"David recognizes the importance of supporting his alma mater in a significant way," said Leonard R. Raley, vice president for alumni relations and development, and executive director of The Ohio University Foundation. "We're very grateful to receive such a noteworthy gift from such a young alumnus."
