ATHENS, Ohio -- Two faculty members in Ohio University's Russ College of Engineering and Technology were honored recently for their commitment to teaching and research at the college's annual Faculty/Staff banquet.

Luis Rabelo, an assistant professor of industrial and manufacturing systems engineering since 1991, received the Fritz and Dolores Russ Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award. Nominations for this honor were submitted by student organizations.

Kendree Sampson, an assistant professor in chemical engineering, was recognized for his research on the manufacturing of polymers. He received the Fritz and Dolores Russ Research Award for his work, which issponsored by the National Science Foundation.

The award is given to researchers for work published in the last calendar year. Sampson's research was published in a recent issue of the Journal of Applied Polymer Science.

Rabelo and Sampson each received $1,000 from an endowment set up by Fritz and Dolores Russ.
