MARY DILLON APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF PUBLICATIONS AT OHIO UNIVERSITY

ATHENS, Ohio Mary Dillon, former director of university publications at Binghamton University, Binghamton, N.Y., has been appointed director of publications at Ohio University, effective July 12. Working in the division of Communications and Marketing, she will direct production of the university's marketing publications and promotional pieces and provide university clients with design and editorial advice.

Since April 1997, Dillon has supervised a staff of 11 in publications and the print shop at Binghamton. Prior to that, she was director of publications at Hartwick College, Oneonta, N.Y., where she oversaw publications and recruitment materials, coordinated desktop publishing efforts on campus and created and maintained the college's World Wide Web site.

Dillon has won numerous awards for publication design, including gold medals from the University College Designers Association. She won three gold medals and a silver medal from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education's Circle of Excellence Program for Hartwick's recruitment materials and a "Best of Show" for Hartwick's total public relations program at the 10th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards.

"Given our new direction in communications and marketing, Mary Dillon brings a welcome combination of enthusiasm, energy, creative talent and excellent management skills to this leadership position at the university," said Vice President for Communications and Marketing Adrie Nab.

Dillon said she will focus on providing top-notch service.

"The position has been vacant for a while and customer service will be a top priority," Dillon said. "I look forward to the opportunity to forge strong relationships with clients university-wide."

Dillon completed a bachelor's degree in communications at Canisius College, Buffalo, N.Y., in 1982. She attended the Advanced Business Institute at the IBM Executive Training Center, Palisades, N.Y., in 1998.
