ATHENS, Ohio -- Wanda Sheridan, senior secretary of the School of Interpersonal Communication, was elected to become the chair of the State Employees Council of Ohio by a panel of state university representatives at an annual conference at Ohio State University in mid-June.

Sheridan, who has worked for Ohio University for 13 years, recently completed a one-year term as chair of Ohio University Classified Senate. Her one-year term as chair of the state council begins July 1, 1999.

The council is a group of classified and administrative state university employees that convenes three times each year. The council's goal is to network staff throughout the state and discuss university employee issues. Ohio University will host the group's annual summer conference in 1999.

"I am proud of Wanda's leadership of this statewide group and we look forward to hosting their annual meeting next summer," said Ohio University President Robert Glidden.
