ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio University Office of Development has appointed three individuals to spearhead fund raising for their respective colleges: Dexter Bailey, assistant dean for alumni relations and development in the College of Education, and assistant deans for development Susan Berg in University College and the Honors Tutorial College and David Scott in the College of Business.

"We are very pleased to have attracted these individuals to these positions," said Leonard Raley, vice president for alumni relations and development. "Each of them brings unique skills and experiences that will enable them to build strong development programs in their respective units with a special emphasis on the raising of major gifts."

Since 1995, Bailey has been assistant director for communications in the Office of Alumni Relations. Prior to joining the university, he was a legislative assistant in the Ohio House of Representatives and assistant communications director for Lee Fisher's re-election campaign in the 1994 Ohio attorney general's race. Berg founded and is the former executive director of Touchstone Cafe, a Columbus, not-for-profit corporation that prepared individuals with mental disabilities for jobs in the food-service industry. Prior to founding Touchstone in 1987, she was director of development and marketing for the Mid-Ohio Multiple Sclerosis Society. She earned a bachelor's degree in journalism at Otterbein College in 1981.

Scott was director of alumni relations and associate director of development at Ohio University from 1969 to 1975. He also has served as executive director for sports and recreation at Niedermeyer Martin Co. in Portland. Since 1990, Scott has been executive manager for United Management and Training, an international training and marketing company based in Portland, Ore. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education at Ohio University in 1959 and 1960.
