Ohio University School of Dance was ranked among the top 10 university undergraduate dance schools in the United States and Canada by a survey in the December issue of Dance Teacher Now Magazine.

A review by the chairs and directors of United States' and Canada's dance programs rated the schools from one to 10 in 12 categories, such as reputation, academic level, facilities and resources and costs.

Ohio University's School of Dance received its highest mark in the academic level category, surpassing the Juilliard School in New York City, Ohio State University and Florida State University.

"It's gratifying to be recognized nationally by our peers," said Madeleine Scott, School of Dance director. "This external validation is particularly reaffirming in light of the recognition we received during the university's assessment process." In October, the School of Dance was recognized by the Provost's Office for its qualitative self-assessment and use of external review through the College of Fine Arts' Visiting Artists Program.
