ATHENS, Ohio -- The Archives and Special Collections Department of Ohio University Libraries has received a $50,000 bequest that will serve as a general endowment fund for the department.

The bequest was made to the libraries from the estate of the late Constance (Mrs. Fred) Sands of Athens. Sands made the bequest in honor of her aunt, Candus Martzolff, a long-time library employee in the early 20th century. Sands received bachelor's and master's degrees from Ohio University and worked for the university from 1929 to 1957.

The Friends of the Libraries of Ohio University added $5,000 to the fund through its annual gift to the libraries.
