ATHENS, Ohio -- The Classified Staff Advisory Council (CSAC) will hold a special meeting over the Higher Education Microwave Services (HEMS) system Tuesday (Jan. 14), linking council members and classified staff from Athens and four of the five regional campuses.
The meeting will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 007 Copeland Hall on the Athens campus, and is open to the university community, particularly classified staff, on each campus. The Southern Campus microwave system is booked on that date, so CSAC member Linda Freeman is scheduled to attend the meeting in Athens.
Agenda topics include payroll time sheet training; an explanation of "buying back" sick leave; compensation time vs. sick leave protocol; an update on physicals for classified staff; dialogue possibilities among regional campuses; and thoughts concerning a quarter system vs. a semester system.
CSAC Chair Karyn Davis said this is the "first formal, major endeavor" in several years using HEMS to join the council and classified staff from Athens and the regional campuses at the same time. The council of 24 regular members and three alternates includes representatives from each regional campus who typically travel to Athens for monthly meetings.
The council was created in 1989 as a forum for providing advice and making recommendations to University Human Resources and the campus administration on issues affecting the approximately 900 non-bargaining unit classified employees on all six campuses.
On regional campuses, the meeting will be based in 256 Brasee Hall at Lancaster; 217 Shannon Hall at Eastern; 33 Bennett Hall at Chillicothe; and 202 Elson Hall at Zanesville.
