ATHENS, Ohio -- Rutgers History Professor Omer Bartov will speak on "War, Genocide, and Modern Identity" at 8 p.m., Tuesdsay, Feb. 17 in Anderson Auditorium of Scripps Hall.
Educated at Tel-Aviv University and Oxford University, Bartov is an internationally known scholar of the Nazi Regime and the Holocaust.
Bartov is the author of several books, including, "The Eastern Front, 1941-1945: German Troops and the Barbarization of Warfare," "Hitler's Army: Soldiers, Nazis, and War in the Third Reich," and "Murder in Our Midst: The Holocaust, Industrial Killing, and Representation." In 1995, "Murder in Our Midst" won the Fraenkel Prize in Contemporary History. His latest work, "Mirrors of Destruction," is to be published soon by Oxford University Press.
Bartov's lecture is sponsored by the Leonard Lazaroff, M.D. Endowment Lecture Series of the Ohio University History Department and is free and open to the public.
