ATHENS, Ohio -- The Vice President for Finance Division at Ohio University has announced a reorganization that includes the promotion of two individuals to the position of assistant controller.

Linda Shapiro, formerly manager of grants and contracts accounting, and Gina Coen, former accountant for the Ohio University Foundation, were both named assistant controllers by Vice President for Finance Dick Siemer. Shapiro has worked at Ohio University for 15 years, while Coen has been on campus for 14 years.

Four other members of Siemer's Finance Division staff have taken on new duties. All new appointments take effect Jan. 1.

One of the things that struck me most positively about Ohio University during my interview process was the strength of the accounting and purchasing staffs," said Siemer, who joined Ohio University in August. I am pleased to be able to begin moving some of these folks into more responsible positions where they can grow and develop."

Other individuals with new titles and responsibilities include:

Cindy Strausbaugh, manager of Ohio University Foundation accounting. A 20-year university employee, she previously had been supervisor of plant funds accounting for major renovation and construction projects.

Robert Paulsen, manager of plant funds accounting. He served 15 years as supervisor of auxiliary accounting.

Keith Leffler, interim manager of grants and contracts accounting. He previously was an accountant in the same area. Joyice Childs, purchasing card administrator. A 20-year Ohio University staff member, she was a research expeditor in the Purchasing Department for seven years.

Remaining in their current jobs are Assistant Vice President of Finance Larry Corrigan; Assistant Vice President/Controller Bob Courtney; and Bursar Fred Cremeans. Director of Purchasing Mike Worley retires from the university Dec. 31 and a search is under way for his replacement.

The Vice President for Finance Division moved to the newly renovated HDL Center last week from Scott Quad. All phones numbers remain the same. The university is leasing 44,500 square feet of office space on three floors of the building owned by local businessman Harold Laughlin at the corner of West Union and Smith streets.
