DECEMBER PRESS RELEASES
THE FIRST DIRT WAS MOVED in December for work on a new $2.3 million,
20,000-square foot center researching multi-phase flow and its effects on corrosion in gas, oil
and other
industrial pipelines. The facility, due to be completed in late spring, will nearly double
the research area currently available at the research area currently available at the Corrosion in
Multiphase Systems Center on campus. The center is studying ways to prevent corrosion in
pipelines, a problem responsible for several fatal accidents at U.S. industrial plants. In December,
