ATHENS, Ohio -- K.C. Melnik, a junior public relations major from Westerville, has been appointed as the newest student member of the Ohio University Board of Trustees, Ohio Gov. George V. Voinovich announced Tuesday (Aug. 20) morning.
Melnik, whose term will run through May 12, 1998, will attend her first board meeting as a trustee Sept. 27-28 in Athens. She replaces Melissa Cardenas, whose term expired in the spring. The other Ohio University student trustee is Kevin Sasson.
Student members of trustee boards at state-supported universities serve for two years and have no voting power. Voinovich appointed seven other student trustees to boards at Cleveland State, Central State, Youngstown State, Wright State and Kent State universities on Tuesday.
Melnik is an Ohio University tour guide coordinator and is vice president of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She also is an active member of the Student Activities Commission and the campus chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.
