OHIO UNIVERSITY RANKED 38TH BEST VALUE AMONG 580 PUBLIC CAMPUSES

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University was ranked 38th in a national ranking of top values at state universities, according to the September issue of Kiplinger's Personal Financemagazine.

The magazine examined 580 four-year, public colleges and universities to determine the top 100 values. The ranking took into account tuition, room-and-board costs, academic quality and selectivity, graduation and retention rates and financial aid.

The magazine also conducted a survey of campuses last spring and editors reviewed information compiled by Wintergreen-Orchard House, a firm that collects information on college campuses.

"This ranking is yet another indication of the high quality of the education that our students receive," said Provost Sharon Brehm. "By combining the personal attention and mentoring of a residential college with the dynamic search for knowledge of a research university, Ohio University has created an exceptional environment for personal and intellectual development."

Topping the list was the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by University of Virginia and the College of William and Mary. In Ohio, Miami University was ranked 30th, Ohio State was 82nd and Bowling Green State University ranked 96th.
