ATHENS, Ohio -- Officials from local and state law enforcement agencies are using search dogs, horses, bicycles, a boat and a helicopter as they continue to search for an Ohio University student, missing since early Saturday morning, April 25.
The parents of freshman Keith Noble, 19, are offering a $10,000 reward for information regarding their son's disappearance that leads to the discovery of his whereabouts, according to Ohio University Police Chief Ted Jones. Noble's parents are staying in a university residence hall while the search continues, Jones said.
Noble was last seen at a party at 171 W. Washington St., Athens, about 1:10 a.m. Saturday.
"We have thoroughly searched the area within a reasonable walking distance of where the young man was last seen," Jones said. "We hope the publication of his photograph will result in someone remembering seeing him."
Police officers from the city and university have used bicycles to search cars on streets and in parking lots on the west side of Athens, according to Jones. City police officers have searched the banks of the Hocking River by boat from West Union Street north to the bike path bridge, and used horses to search the banks of the river south and east of Union Street.
Officers in an Ohio State Patrol helicopter on Wednesday flew over the west side of Athens and the Hocking River area and employed an infrared thermal imaging technique that detects body heat.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Noble should contact the Ohio University Police Department at (740) 593-1911.
