ATHENS, Ohio -- Nancy Bain, professor of geography at Ohio University, has announced her decision to step down as university ombudsman effective Sept. 1. Bain, who has served as ombudsman since 1991, will return to teaching full time in the Department of Geography.

The Office of the Provost is accepting nominations for a new ombudsman. Candidates for the position must be tenured faculty members and be able to work with students, staff and faculty on a range of problem issues.

Nominations should contain the name, address and phone number of the nominee; a brief statement indicating the qualifications of the nominee; and the signature and address of the nominator.

Nominations must be received by April 16, and should be mailed to David Heaton, Ombudsman Search, Office of the Provost, 317 Cutler Hall, Athens, OH 45701.
