ATHENS, Ohio (August 18, 2000) -- Director of Admissions Kip Howard has been named assistant vice president for enrollment services. Besides supervising the Office of Admissions, which he has done for nine years, he will oversee the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.
"Kip was given the promotion and title change to recognize his broader and highly successful role in directing the university admissions process," said Vice President for Administration Gary North. "Financial aid must be closely coordinated with the admissions process for the university to be successful in meeting priorities. Thus, it made sense to tie the two functions together to assure they work in concert."
Howard looks forward to more collaboration between the offices.
"We are fortunate to have at Ohio University talented and dedicated individuals working in the offices of Admissions and Financial Aid," Howard said. "Our new organization lets us build on existing strengths and expand the services we provide students and the university."
Before he came to Ohio University in 1991, Howard was vice president for enrollment at Muskingum College. He also served as assistant vice chancellor for enrollment services at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He has a bachelor's degree from Muskingum College, a master's from Colgate University and has done graduate work at the University of Denver.
Howard was named an Ohio University Outstanding Administrator for the 1999-2000 academic year by the Administrative Senate.
