COLUMBUS, Ohio (July 26, 2000) -- Ohio University student Lorena Brown is among the seventeen students who have been chosen to receive the first scholarships offered for environmental science and engineering students at Ohio state-supported colleges and universities by Ohio EPA's Environmental Education Fund.
"I would like to congratulate the first recipients of these scholarships," said Ohio EPA Director Christopher Jones. "This program is a good way to reward outstanding students who we hope will make significant contributions to the field of environmental science after graduation."
Administered by the Ohio Academy of Science, this new scholarship program was created to encourage studies in environmental science and engineering, provide additional motivation for students to enter the field of environmental protection, and award merit-based scholarships to outstanding undergraduate students to further their education and enhance their employability in environmental fields.
