C. Daniel DeLawder of Newark Named to Ohio
University Board of Trustees
ATHENS, Ohio (June 29, 2000) -- C. Daniel DeLawder of Newark, president and board member of The Park National Bank and Park National Corp., has been appointed to the Ohio University Board of Trustees.
His term began June 16 and continues until May 12, 2009. Ohio University trustees are appointed by the governor of Ohio with the consent of the state Senate. The board includes nine members who serve nine-year terms and two student members who serve two-year terms. Five of the nine standing members must be Ohio University alumni.
DeLawder has been active in development efforts for the Ohio University College of Education, and chairs the college's Advancement Committee.
DeLawder, a graduate of Heath High School, graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor of science degree in education. He holds additional degrees from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University and the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. DeLawder is also a graduate of the Ohio School of Banking and the National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma.
He is past president of the Fairfield National Bank and remains chairman of the bank's advisory board. He serves on the boards of the Richland Trust Co., Consolidated Computer Center, Medical Benefits Mutual Life Insurance Co. and Second National Bank.
DeLawder is extensively involved in civic, professional and community pursuits, both locally and regionally. In 1997, he received the Fuerst Award for Outstanding Community Leadership from the Hills of Ohio Chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives, and, in 1999, he received the Heath High School Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award.
He is a board member and past president of United Way of Licking County and United Way of Fairfield County. DeLawder is past chairman of the Newark Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and has served as president of the Lancaster-Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce and the Lancaster Rotary Club. He is president of the Simon Kenton Council of the Boy Scouts of America. DeLawder serves on the East Mound Community Development Corporation Advisory Board and was fund-raising chairman for "A Call to College," the Newark High School Scholarship Program.
DeLawder and his wife, Diane, have two children, Sara and Matt.
