Ohio University Sophomore Amy Vargas-Tonsi
Appointed to Board of Trustees
ATHENS, Ohio (June 29, 2000) -- Amy Vargas-Tonsi, a sophomore at Ohio University, has been appointed to a two-year term on the Ohio University Board of Trustees. She is one of two student trustees on the 11-member board.
Vargas-Tonsi was on the Dean's List her first three quarters at Ohio University and is a student worker in the Office of the President. She is a member of Phi Sigma Iota, the French Honorary Chapter, and served as a French teacher for the Kids on Campus program.
"I'm excited to have the opportunity to represent the student body as a member of the Board of Trustees," Vargas-Tonsi said. "I hope I can make it a positive experience for the students."
A 1997 graduate of Kenston High School, she was listed in "Who's Who Among American High School Students." After graduating from high school, she spent a year studying in France as a Rotary International Exchange Student. Vargas-Tonsi is fluent in Spanish and French and is a citizen of both the United States and Mexico.
Vargas-Tonsi is the daughter of Carlos Vargas-Aburto and Christina Tonsi-Vargas of Chagrin Falls.
