ATHENS, Ohio (June 29, 2000) -- Alumni College, an event designed to be educational and invigorating for participants of all ages, will be offered at Ohio University July 20 through 23. "Alumni College 2000 -- Mind, Body and Spirit" offers a vacation that is relaxing and fun for the entire family.

"The Ohio University Alumni Association, in conjunction with the Division of Lifelong Learning, has designed a program that promises to rejuvenate the green and white blood of university alumni and friends from around the country," said Ralph Amos, assistant vice president and executive director of alumni relations. "We have crafted a program that will enrich your mind, exercise your body and raise your spirit. Experienced faculty and local community members are helping to create this workshop for participants of all ages and interests."

The adult portion of Alumni College 2000 will offer workshops in topics ranging from presidential campaigns to cutting-edge medicine and the affordability of health care. Participants also can enjoy the International Bead Show at the Dairy Barn of the Southeastern Ohio Cultural Arts Center or tour botanical gardens in and around the Athens area.

OUY2K, Alumni College's youth program, was developed to provide excitement and adventure for the children of adult participants. Youth participants will take excursions throughout the area to experience the educational opportunities that southeast Ohio has to offer. Included are trips to Hocking Hills, Center of Science and Industry in Columbus, Ohio Village and Strouds Run State Park. Trained youth counselors will provide 24-hour supervision for the participants.

The cost of the program is $390 per adult without on-campus lodging and $460 for the entire package. The cost for OUY2K youth participants is $275, which includes lodging, meals and admission to all activities for the weekend.
