ATHENS, Ohio (June 12, 2000) -- The Ohio University Russ College of Engineering and Technology recently inducted three members into its Academy of Distinguished Graduates.
This year's honorees are Raymon B. Fogg Sr., BSCE, '53; Charles R. Stuckey Jr., BSME, '66; and Thomas E. Wheeler, AA, '70, and BSED, '71. The Distinguished Graduate Award is given to recognize career accomplishments and life achievements and is the highest honor the college bestows on its graduates.
Fogg, a Cleveland resident, serves as president and CEO of Ray Fogg Building Methods Inc., an engineering, contracting and development firm in Cleveland Fogg founded in 1959. Over the past 40 years, the company has constructed more than 3,700 buildings in northeast Ohio. As an Ohio University student, he was a member of the Air Force ROTC and served as president of the Ohio University chapter of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers. Known internationally for his philanthropic work, Fogg has served on the boards of several international relief agencies. He is a member of the Ohio University Civil Engineering Advisory Board and in 1997 was awarded the Medal of Merit by the Ohio University Alumni Association.
Stuckey, a resident of Carlisle, Mass., serves as chairman of RSA Security Inc. (formerly Security Dynamics Technologies Inc.) and as president of RSA Capital. Under his leadership, RSA expanded from 18 employees in 1987 to 1,000 employees in 2000 and ranks among the top 100 software companies in the world. Stuckey attended Ohio University-Lancaster while working full time for the Anchor Hocking Glass Corp. and later commuted to the Athens campus while working part-time jobs in Athens and Lancaster. He also serves on the board of directors of RSA Security Inc. and MatrixOne. He is director and vice chairman of the Massachusetts Telecommunications Council and is a member of the Strategic Planning Task Force for the Russ College Board of Visitors.
Wheeler, a Willoughby, Ohio, resident, is president and owner of Component Repair Technologies. After serving nine years as a corporate pilot with TRW Airlines, he worked as marketing director in the jet engine parts repair division. When TRW sold the division in 1985, he started his own parts repair business and currently employs more than 200 aerospace manufacturing and aircraft overhaul and repair personnel.
Wheeler's leadership in Ohio University's Aviation Hangar Project led to the establishment of the Francis Fuller Aviation Training Facility. He also was instrumental in establishing the David Hoover Memorial Scholarship to benefit aviation majors. Wheeler serves on the Aviation Advisory Board, the Russ College Board of Visitors and is co-chair of the college's Advancement Committee. In 1997, he was awarded the Medal of Merit by the Ohio University Alumni Association.
