Ohio Volleyball Adds Signee
ATHENS, Ohio (May 22, 2000) -- Ohio volleyball head coach Mike Lessinger recently
announced the addition of a signee for the 2001 season. Jessica Jones (Boardman)
has signed a National Letter of Intent to enter Ohio University this fall.
Jones, a six-foot middle blocker/hitter from Boardman High School, posted
team-leading stats in blocks, point, kills and aces. A team captain, she was
selected to the All-SVC and all-district first-teams her senior year. She
was also tabbed to be on the MVCA all-star team. During her junior year of
high school, Jones was named to the first-team all-SVC and second-team
all-district. She also posted the most kills and points on the team.
Besides earning three letters in volleyball, Jones also earned four
letters in swimming and one in track. She served as co-captain of the
varsity swim team and holds the freshman record in the 100-meter breaststroke.
"Jessica is going to bring so much to our program because she has such a
great drive," said Lessinger. "Her desire to get better is unmatched in
any player I've seen. She eats, sleeps and practices volleyball constantly."
