Ohio Track and Field Competes in MAC Championships
BUFFALO, New York (May 20, 2000) -- Ohio men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Mid-American
Conference Championships on Thursday, May 18, through Saturday, May 20, in Buffalo, NY. The
Ohio women's team finished ninth with the men's team taking a 12th-place finish in the tournament.
Ball State won the women's title while Kent State won the men's tournament.
Senior Katie Geib (Erie, Pa.) and junior Jacki Waller (New Port Richey, Fla.) led the women's team
with each taking a third-place finish. Geib took third place in the high jump with a distance of 5-8.
Geib also helped the 1600-meter relay team to a seventh-place finish with a time of 3:53.46. Waller's
third-place finish came in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 35:45.71. She also placed 10th in the
5,000-meter run with a time of 17:30.43.
Also posting top-ten finishes for the Bobcats were sophomores Sarah List (Milford) and C'Rai
Weeden (Cleveland). List finished seventh in the high jump with a distance of 5-4.25, while Weeden
placed eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.94. Weeden was also on the 1600-meter relay
team that took a seventh-place finish.
Senior Dennis Russo (Rockaway Twp., NJ) and sophomore Chris London (Youngstown) both took
fourth-place finishes to lead the men's team. Russo placed fourth in the javelin throw with a distance
of 202-3 while London placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 23-11.50. Freshman Scott
Trahey (Akron) also had a top-ten finish, placing ninth in the decathlon.
