Conference On Interethnic and Religious Conflict May 18-19 at

ATHENS, Ohio (May 15, 2000) -- Ohio University's Center for International Studies
will host a conference, "Interethnic and Religious Conflict: A Cross Cultural Perspective," May
18-19 at Baker Center.
The conference will explore the fundamental causes and social
implications of inter- and intra-group conflicts worldwide. Invited speakers include
scholars and practitioners with expertise and long-term experience in
international conflict and conflict resolution in Africa, the Balkans, the
Caucuses, Latin America and Southeast Asia.
Walker Connor, an expert on ethnicity and nationalism, will give the
keynote address at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18, in Galbreath Chapel.
Conference sessions are free and open to the public. Registration for
the conference will be 8-9 a.m. May 18 at Baker Center. For more information
